Water off a duck's back © Naomi Stolow
The way birds can live on water, yet manage to keep themselves warm and dry really fascinates me. This photographs shows the intricacy of a falcated duck's beautifully patterned feathers, impervious to water. Their miraculous waterproofing enables every droplet falling upon them to roll like a bright bead of mercury - before slipping back into the water.
